BIO

As a multimedia artist, the most important thing in my work is playfulness.

Thematically, my works are often an exploration of my own shyness - both the difficulties of engaging with others, and the joy and satisfaction that can come from overcoming these obstacles. Therefore, a lot of my pieces aim to create a whimsical atmosphere, or at least something that somehow invigorates people to cope with the world. I approach my work with a sense of playfulness, whether it be through my methods or the subject matter within. My process is fairly spontaneous, usually beginning with an idea or rough outline and evolving as the short or project continues. Recurring elements in my work include bright or pastel colors, a multimedia approach, attention to light, and simple characters with exaggerated movement. I'm fascinated by things that are primitively digital - mainly LED signage and animation, LCD devices such as Tamagotchis, NES graphics, and 2000s Flash cartoons. There is something uniquely human about the innovation needed to create these things at all, and what is often dismissed as a lack of polish or outdated by others I see as one of the most pure forms of human expression. My work attempts to capture not only the visual aesthetics of these things, but the human drive to create art with any available materials, even a few tiny light bulbs.

Although my work is often cute, I aim for it to be thought-provoking.
